Win a Vintage Violin for your Donation!

Just wanted to let everyone know that to help pay for our July 19th fiddle contest, we are offering chances to win an 1890's Vintage Violin or a $75.00 Bluegrass Shack Gift Certificate (for merchandise, not lessons). For every $1.00 that you donate, you will get one chance to win your choice of the violin or the gift certificate. If you donate $5.00, you get six chances! We will draw the winning ticket during the fiddle contest on July 19, 2009. You do not have to be present to win.

This instrument was made in Germany in the late 1800's. It has an inlayed purfling design on the back of the fiddle, and double purfling inlayed around the top and the back of the instrument. It has had a number of repairs made to it throughout the years, none of which we have made here at The Bluegrass Shack. It is in ready-to-play condition, and has a really great, bassy sound. I personally picked out this instrument because I wanted something that looked and sounded good, so that someone who already had a nice instrument might still want to have this one. You are welcome to play it when you come, or ask one of us to play it for you!

All of the money that you donate will go towards our contest expenses. These include the cost of judges, trophies, prize money, medals, advertising (mail costs), and flyers. It costs us over $1,000 to put on a contest. We have never made a profit, and if by chance we do, it would go towards our next contest (October 2009).

This is your chance to help us out with our fiddle contest, but also get a chance to get something materially nice in return! Thank you for your support.

A chance for a new fiddle for a donation to a worthwhile cause. Sounds good to me! How can we donate? Can we do it online?

Because it is a donation, if you are not local, the best way to donate would be a check or money order to The Bluegrass Shack. Make sure you put a note in there so we know what it is for and we can put your tickets into the drawing. Any other method of donation, e.g. Paypal or credit/debit card, would incur a fee.
